Keep These in Mind

Besides the good food, enchanting temples, and low cost of living, there are many other reasons Thailand is affectionately known as “The Land of Smiles.”

Thai New Year

Every year, Thailand hosts the world’s largest water fight during the Thai New Year, called Songkran. For three days, the entire country bands together for a giant water fight. Originally inspired by the use of water to clean and purify temples, buckets of water, super soakers, and water balloons galore have become a must on this fun and festive day. So, if you visit Thailand during Songkran, be sure to keep all your belongings safe in a dry bag – because you’re bound to get drenched!

National Parks

With 127 national parks, Thailand houses more than 10% of the wildlife in the world. Elephants, tigers, bears, binturong, pangolin, monkeys, spiders, scorpions, leopards, snakes … the list goes on! This happy country is also a habitat to 1,076 species of birds – of which 100 of them are extremely rare. How cool is that?

Shopping in Thailand

In case you haven’t heard, you can “shop ‘til you drop in Thailand!” With a variety of shopping markets and high-quality malls, there are plenty of places to get the best bang for your Baht in Thailand. You can find cheap clothing, Thai silk, jewelry, well-crafted home goods, and even authentic Thai spa products like essential oils, body scrubs, and exotic soaps.

Thai Street Food

It’s been said many times, “Thai street food is incredible!” And, a trip to Bangkok wouldn’t be complete without exploring it. So, whether you venture to Chinatown, a night market, a floating market (or all of the above!), you won’t be disappointed. There’s something for everyone. And, if you’re an especially adventurous eater, go to Khao San Road to try their delicacy: scorpion-on-a-stick. Some tourists have compared them to “cheese-flavored chips,” but you can render your own verdict.

Conclusion

More than anything, Thailand offers stunningly diverse landscapes throughout the nation. From magnificent mountains to jungles with breathtaking waterfalls, to remote villages, to beautiful tea plantations, to some of the most splendid beaches on Earth, you will absolutely fall in love with all the beauty in Thailand.
