Every year, Thailand hosts the world’s largest water fight during the Thai New Year, called Songkran. For three days, the entire country bands together for a giant water fight. Originally inspired by the use of water to clean and purify temples, buckets of water, super soakers, and water balloons galore have become a must on this fun and festive day. So, if you visit Thailand during Songkran, be sure to keep all your belongings safe in a dry bag – because you’re bound to get drenched!

With 127 national parks, Thailand houses more than 10% of the wildlife in the world. Elephants, tigers, bears, binturong, pangolin, monkeys, spiders, scorpions, leopards, snakes … the list goes on! This happy country is also a habitat to 1,076 species of birds – of which 100 of them are extremely rare. How cool is that?

In case you haven’t heard, you can “shop ‘til you drop in Thailand!” With a variety of shopping markets and high-quality malls, there are plenty of places to get the best bang for your Baht in Thailand. You can find cheap clothing, Thai silk, jewelry, well-crafted home goods, and even authentic Thai spa products like essential oils, body scrubs, and exotic soaps.
